Amid further chaos before COP26, GLASGOW school staff are ready to go on strike.
Watchmen, cleaners and canteen workers can go out on a large scale with council owners in the face of bitter pay.
Union GMB Scotland has confirmed that the school’s cleaning staff will join the strike if their current demands are not met.
A total of 600 union staff across the city could refuse to come to work - which could lead to chaos in schools.
This came as Scott Rail staff also confirmed that they were on strike tomorrow - which could leave Glasgow without trains while COP26 is on.
A union boss has warned that the Scottish government could be embarrassed “internationally” if the demands of cleaning staff are not met.
Chris Mitchell, GMB Glasgow Cleansing Convener, said: “During the last 18 months of this terrible epidemic, Scotland has had an army of low-wage workers gathering essential services.
“We were called key workers, even cowardly heroes, but while politicians were happy to compliment us on Thursday night, they never reached into their pockets to pay us properly.
The eyes of the world will be on Glasgow during COP 26, and our politicians now have a choice - will they give a fair reward to the frontline workers who won the country through epidemic disease, or will they give the city and the country a go? Will the stage risk embarrassment internationally?
