Split fans were furious tonight as a blast from the past shocked the return of the series.
The returning character slept with hit drama protagonist Hannah Stern (Nicola Walker), leaving audiences freaking out with a passionate reunion.
It was, of course, about the mistress of the lawyer Hannah Christie Carmichael, played by Barry Atsma.
Christie hasn’t been seen in episode 3 yet, but that all changed during today’s episode.
Excited, Hannah was very surprised when he showed up to help her mom Ruth with a case.
“You’re back!” Hannah exclaimed, seeing her former flame, struggling to keep her composure.
“I’m back,” her handsome lover confirmed, before adding that he’d only been in London for “a few days.”
“Isn’t it wonderful?” repeated Ruth, as she left a couple to make up for lost time.
As sexual tension flared between the couple, viewers took to Twitter in droves to comment on their chemistry and celebrate Christy’s return.
One said, “Christy and Hannah are dating again, I can’t handle it!”
“They really make each other happy,” commented a second.
The third fainted: “He is her true love. She caught her breath when she saw him.”
And as the episode progressed, viewers got what they were waiting for when Hannah and Christy kissed passionately on the balcony of his hotel late at night before falling into bed together.
Although the show did not show viewers any sex scenes between the couple, they were seen wrapped in tangled sheets the next morning.
One dizzy viewer wrote, “Look at that Hannah Stern smile, it’s all because of Christy…can’t blame her!”
The second said, “Hannah belongs to Christy. It was my opinion from the very beginning, and I stick to it. God, I love this show. So good”.
At the start of this series, Nicola Walker teased in an interview that actor Barry would reprise his role as Christy’s fan favorite.
She said, “When we were told [Barry] could make it work, it was just breathtaking… He’s such a brilliant actor. He’s back… and he’s coming back at a pretty interesting moment.”

Tonight marked the third episode of the third and final series.
There are still three episodes left on the air, although the entire latest episode is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
