Aberdeen sex offender raises money for ‘humanitarian’ trip to war-torn Ukraine-Poland border

A CONVINCED sex offender raises public money to finance a solo “humanitarian” trip to the war-torn Ukrainian-Polish border.

Peter Reid, 27, from Aberdeen has received £1,000 from well-wishers and plans to fly out on Saturday with supplies to ‘help the crisis’.

Peter Reed is on the list of sex offenders after having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

He says he has collected essentials such as sanitary napkins and toothpaste to take with him and insists that the donations will buy “whatever he needs” when he arrives in Poland.

On the JustGiving website, he described his goal of “helping Ukrainian refugees on the border with Poland” by providing assistance, and will take a box of hats and gloves with him to distribute.

But just six years ago, he was described in court as someone with an “arrogant and overbearing” attitude towards women.

The Scottish Sun may report that Reid was placed on the sex offender registry for three years in 2016 after having sex with a 15-year-old girl despite knowing her age.

He was also convicted of threatening and abusive behavior towards two other teenagers.

A jury of nine women and six men found him guilty on three counts.

During the trial, the court heard of one case in which Reid locked one of his victims outside in his front garden when she was wearing only her underwear.

Despite her screams, the 21-year-old man refused to let her back into his apartment, and when she tried to return, she slammed the door shut with her fingers.

On another occasion, he threw the same girl to the floor by her hair and kicked her in the body.

Reed was also convicted of hitting another teenager’s head on the floor. He also repeatedly made offensive comments about her throughout the duration of their relationship.

During her testimony, one of the girls said that during her time with Reid, she felt so depressed that she tried to kill herself.

Testifying himself, he told the court that he did not believe her when she told him she was only 15 years old and said he thought it was “just a joke”.

On his fundraising page, he was inundated with messages in support of his trip.

He says he wants to buy “basic food and drinks, sleeping bags and basic medicines.”

Reed told donors: “I just want to go there, offer my English to help get over the language barrier, and if I can bring a couple of crates of hats and gloves with me, because I know the temperature has dropped by about.

“People are clearly crossing the line with nothing… if people made donations, I could buy and distribute basic food, water and the like.”

His fundraiser is not connected to any registered charity or rescue operation based in Scotland, which would normally require background checks from Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) before engaging with vulnerable groups.

The majority of refugees on the Polish border are women and children, as Ukrainian men between the ages of 16 and 60 are called to stay and fight against the Russian invasion.

Reed said, “My criminal record is used up.”
